Privacy Policy

Who we are

songfor.me is operated by Luke Hanner (Modryn Studio). We generate custom songs as gifts, delivered as permanent recipient pages. Our contact email is hello@songfor.gift.

What we collect

When you create a song, you provide:

• Your name (as the sender)
• The recipient's name, nickname, age, and details about them — the occasion you're celebrating, their relationship to you, a personal memory or description, the people and pets in their life, their music taste, and the energy or vibe you want the song to carry
• An optional personal message to include on their page
• Payment information, processed by Stripe — we never see or store card numbers. Stripe shares your email address with us after payment so we can send you notifications about your gift.

We also store the generated lyrics, audio files, and style descriptors produced from your inputs. If the recipient submits a reaction photo, that photo is stored on Vercel Blob.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through this service, email us and we will delete it.

How we use it

• To generate the song and recipient page you paid for
• To send you the recipient link so you can share it
• To send you email notifications about your gift — when the recipient opens it, and if they send a reaction back to you
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service
• To notify us (the operators) when key events happen — gift created, song delivered, page opened

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as described in the processors section below.

Third-party processors

We use the following services to operate songfor.me. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their function.

• Stripe — payment processing. Your card information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. Stripe is PCI DSS compliant. Stripe Privacy Policy
• Anthropic— lyrics generation. The song brief you provide (recipient name, nickname, age, sender name, occasion, relationship, a personal description, the people in their life, music taste, and vibe) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write the song lyrics and style descriptors. This is the most personally descriptive data in the pipeline. Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Evolink — audio generation. The generated lyrics and style descriptors are sent to Evolink to render the audio. No contact information or payment data reaches Evolink.
• Vercel— hosting and file storage. The generated song audio file is stored on Vercel Blob. The recipient page is served via Vercel's global network. Vercel Privacy Policy
• Neon — database. Gift data (recipient name, nickname, age, sender name, occasion, relationship, description, people, music taste, vibe, sender message, song URL) is stored in a Neon PostgreSQL database. Neon Privacy Policy
• Google— email delivery. We use Google Workspace to send you transactional notifications (recipient opened, reaction received). Your email address is transmitted to Google's SMTP servers solely to deliver these messages. Google Privacy Policy

The recipient page

The recipient page at songfor.gift/for/[id]is publicly accessible to anyone with the link. It displays the recipient's name, the sender's message, and the song. The page is permanent — it does not expire. If the recipient submits a reaction photo, that photo is stored on Vercel Blob and linked to their gift record; it is deleted 90 days after submission, or upon delivery to the sender if that happens first. When the recipient opens their page, we record the timestamp of the first open so the sender can know it was received.

If you want a recipient page removed, email us at hello@songfor.gift with the page URL and we will remove it.

Use of your content

We do not use any stored assets — including generated lyrics, style descriptors, audio files, or reaction photos — for marketing or model training without explicit written consent from all parties — both the sender and the recipient. Demo songs and testimonials featured on this site are used only with direct permission from both.

Data retention

We retain gift data indefinitely so recipient pages remain accessible. This includes the generated lyrics, song audio, and all information you provided. When two song versions are generated, both audio files are stored; the unchosen version is deleted after 90 days. Reaction photos are deleted 90 days after submission. If you request deletion, we will remove your gift record, the recipient page, and associated audio files. Payment records are retained as required by Stripe and applicable law.

Cookies and analytics

We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous pageview tracking. No personal data is collected. No cookies are set for tracking purposes. Vercel Analytics does not use cross-site tracking or fingerprinting.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Email hello@songfor.gift with your request. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
